Speech From The Throne Drawing: Senate Artist of Canada Commission_May 27, 2025
This drawing was created following the 2025 Speech from the Throne on May 27, 2025, when His Majesty King Charles III opened the first session of Canada’s 45th Parliament and delivered the government’s agenda in the Senate Chamber. It marked only the third time a reigning Canadian monarch had delivered the Speech from the Throne and the King’s first visit to Canada as Sovereign. The work was my first assignment as an official Senate of Canada artist, capturing a historic day of ceremony, pageantry and public life in Ottawa.
The drawing was exhibited in the foyer of the Senate of Canada Building as part of Speech from the Throne: An Artistic Record, an exhibition featuring works created by four National Capital Region artists commissioned to document the occasion, and is now in the permanent collection of the Senate of Canada.
A limited series of archival prints are now in multiple private and public collections and are available for purchase. To inquire, please contact me through this site or email me at andrew@andrewmorrow.com.
